St. Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day is one of the most popular holidays in America.  It's the one day of the year where we get to pinch someone if they aren't wearing green!  And usually that is the only thing we think about when St. Patrick's Day is on our minds, but really it is a lot more than that!  The reason we celebrate St. Patrick's Day, is because of the death of St. Patrick.  St. Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland.  According to the website "The History of Saint Patrick's Day" it states, "Patrick was instrumental in bringing the Roman Catholic beliefs to Ireland and in subsequent years, Saint Patrick’s Day became a day to commemorate Catholicism in Ireland".  So next time you here about St. Patrick's Day, think about what it really means, not just the fun traditions.
