"Ugh. I think I've eaten too much Halloween candy" I said, as I sat on my bed now feeling sick after eating my last Twix bar. "Oh I think you have" stated Nate's mom, Now i'm off to Mrs. Jones Halloween party, Get your pj's on and get to bed you've been staying up to late with your friends all week. "Ok" I said sighing, "But I'm not even tired yet" I said through a yawn. Mom smiled grabbed her keys and said bye and was off to the party. I put my pj's on and got into bed and fell asleep.
The next thing I knew I woke to a slight tapping noise. The first thing I thought was that its halloween and kids are probably just messing around then the tapping got louder and then I knew that something was up. I crept slowly down the stairs to investigate the sound when suddenly it stoped and the silence was broken by the soft mewing of a kitten.
I reached to open the door when it burst open to reveal mom holding a fluffy black kitten. "I found this little guy sitting in front of the door." said mom. "Aww" I said promptly taking the kitten from mom "He's so soft" I said as he started to purr. "Can we keep him?" I asked excitedly. "Of course we can" she said. Then I said good night and brought the kitten with me to bed we where just curling up when the kitten said "normally most people say its bad luck to let a black cat cross your path but I think it was good luck that brought us together" I smiled and went to sleep.

Halloween post
The black cat twitched its tail, then hissed.
"wow", I said. I thought that it might be having a bad day. I mean, it was 10:00 and the air was cold, so cold that I could see my breath. and it felt humid like the low hanging air was going to freeze ITSELF. The smell of wet asphalt rose to greet my nostrils and everyone in this town.
"This Halloween is a bust", I screamed so loud buddy (my brother) plugged his ears next to me
"JEZZE man, you don't have to be so loud" he spoke annoyed.
"HISSSSSSSS" in a screeching voice.
"It's the cat," buddy said, get it
we chased it, and chased, all the way into mr. Mccormick's house. the cat ran up the steps onto his ugly porch with the screen door hanging on for dear life. the old man came out, picked up his cat, and ran at us full force. I'm talking charging like he had something fuling it other than adrenaline. he chased us and I said,
"you can't get me!!!!!"
I felt like I was in that show, Scooby Doo. when they are getting chased. But only it was more scary, than funny. when I looked back ahead of me (and stopped looking at him) He was stopped and smiling. we were at my house and my mom was looking at us, and I was getting the look. THEE look, like you did something wrong, but with a hint of "hahaha I got you." Feeling uninformed, mom told me and buddy,
"I told mr. Mccormick to chase you meddling kids down, and you are grounded!"

I was walking home from school on a crisp autumn afternoon. As I passed the old abandoned house on Aspen Lane, a black cat with yellow, glowing eyes that was sitting on the front gate twitched it's tail twice, and hissed at me. Then, as the cat turned around, hopped off the fence, and then hightailed it back inside the house through the cat flap, the light in the top window flickered on. "What was that?" I asked myself. "Probably nothing," I said.
The next day, as I passed the front gate of the old abandoned house, the black cat was there, and the same thing happened again, except for this time, my curiosity got the best of me. I hopped the fence, and followed the cat. As it went through the cat flap, I hesitated. Should I go through, or should I not risk it, and continue on my way home? I decided to risk it, so I took off my backpack and went through the cat flap. On the other side, the cat was there waiting for me. The whole room was covered in cobwebs, and it smelled like old wood and dust. It was almost pitch black, except for little candles lit on shelves around the room. I went to take a closer look at what was it the bottles on the shelves, and they were filled with bubbling, frothing, and steaming different colored liquids. They were all labeled, it what I'm assuming is either latin or ancient greek. Weird, I thought to myself. I followed the black cat up the old, creaky stairs, led by it's glowing eyes.
When the black cat and I reached the very top floor, I saw something that I should have expected. Sitting in the middle of a floor was an old witch, with deep purple gem encrusted robes, with a matching hat and wand. The witch looked like something from a fairytale I read when I was little. She was busy stirring a cauldron in front of her, with a bubbling, steaming, and frothing liquid. It shimmered purple, rose, deep blue, black, and pastel colored, with little silver specks like stars, so the potion looked like a swirling nebula. The witch looked up at me, and she had deep, royal purple eyes with specks of silver. Her face was lighted by more candles lit around the room on more shelves with labeled potions. When she spoke, her voice was misty and light, like she was in a trance. "I have been expecting you. You shall be my successor!" she said as she pointed a bony finger at me. She must have sent the cat to lead me inside for her. "Drink the potion," she said. It was so hypnotizing, I did. As soon as the first droplet hit my tongue, I was hit with a sudden rush. I felt wise beyond years, I felt the oncoming gift of prophecy, potion brewing, and spell casting. "Now, let's get started. You will learn the secrets of witchcraft!" the witch said. Then, she cackled a airy laugh, and I realized that I had just started the rest of my life, There was no turning back now, and so, I decided to embrace my destiny. "What are we waiting for?" I asked. I grinned, and sat down. The cat looked at me with it's glowing yellow eyes, twitching tail, and it smiled...
The Noise
By: Halle Westbrook
I took off my Halloween costume, washed the paint off my face, put on my pajamas, brushed my teeth, and went to bed. I was almost asleep when I first heard the sound ...I sat up straight looking around. But nothing was there! I started to lay down again thinking that it was just my imagination, but I heard it again! This time I knew it was not my imagination. I slowly got of out of bed my heart beating fast. I was just about to leave my room when I heard it again! It was coming from down stairs. I slowly made my way down the stairs. I went into the laundry room to grab a flashlight. That´s when I heard the noise again. It was coming from outside.
I slowly put my shoes on and walked to the front door. I was about to turn around and go back up stairs to sleep but I had come this far I was not going to back down now. I unlocked the front door and stepped outside. The cold hit me in a freezing gust. I could see my breath when I breathed. I was outside freezing and I heard the noise. This time it was even louder! The banging was so loud! It was coming from the Mathews house! I slowly made my way through the cold to the Mathews house. I slowly went into their backyard switching my flashlight on.
Then I heard another noise this was different then the banging it was scratching! Then I heard a scream! I jumped so high I almost hit my head on the tree. I heard the noises again I looked up and everything went black. 10 YEARS LATER.... I still don´t know what happened that Halloween night but all I know is that something was there that should not be there. After that moment my life was changed forever.

Everybody said the old bosoworth mansion was haunted which I guess was why I just had to check it out for my self. On Halloween night I went and got my two friends. We went over to the old mansion and I went and knocked on the door. As the door creaked open I took a few steps in and then looked back. I saw neither of my friends had even moved. I told them to keep being such babies and come on, which they did. We went into the kitchen first and there sitting on the table were two lit candles. We figured they were probably just from a couple hobos. All of sudden we heard a noise upstairs. We went up there being as stupid and curious as we were. Up there were 3 doors and a single light at the end. Out of the 3rd door burst someone although it was to dark to see.
We ran faster than we knew possible. We got to my house in about 3 minutes and ran straight up to my room to see if we were followed. At the end of our street we saw someone walk across but luckily they didn’t turn. We decided the best thing to do would be go back to our own houses and go to sleep. The next morning I went storming over to my friends house as soon as I woke up. From his window upstairs you could see the whole mansion. We took his telescope and looked inside the house. We looked and looked forever until finally we saw something. All it was were the movement of curtains but right inside you could see the most disgustingly horrifying face you have ever seen.
We decided we were tired of being scared so we waited till morning grabbed some slingshots and our we went. As we walked down the street you could tell everyone was scared but no one wanted to admit it. We all took our sweet time walking down there till finally we got to the door step. I went up to the door and pushed it open as it squeaked open once again. This time we decided we were going to take a much better aporoach and make whatever was lurking in this house come to us. We slowly walked around the downstairs making as much noise as possible. All of a sudden someone came bursting down the stairs. We ran straight out the door but this time we hid and called the cops. After a couple minutes the sirens came and whatever the thing was, it was retrieved. Although there was never any reports or news about it after that.

Halloween Night
By: Sydney Healy
Where was everybody? I looked all around the house but I didn't find anyone or anything. So I finally went to go check in the creepy moist and scary garage. The car was still there, so no one had left but I heard a very faint noise coming from inside the car. I started to shake so hard and my costume began to feel extra hot and itchy. I slowly walked towards the door to the front seat of the car, then quickly and swiftly opened it. the noise that sounded like eating stopped instantly. It sounded like it was coming from the back seat so I climbed over the seats till I got to the back one, but nothing was there. I knew it was somewhere back here so I dipped my head over the seat and saw a big blanket.
That's when I got really scared and thought about running inside and watching Netflix under my bed with a pillow and blanket. I decided that this time I would face my fears. I mean what could really happen that would be so bad? Maybe there was a dead body under the blanket or a person who was ready to snatch me and drive me and this car very very very far away so that we will never ever ever ever be seen again by anyone, or a zombie, vampire, witch, goblin, or a ware wolf. I mean anything could happen after all it was Halloween night. I decided I was thinking too much and I just needed to pull the blanket. I quickly lifted it only to find my mom munching on tons of my Halloween candy. She looked at me worried and said with her mouth full of candy,"Please don't tell anyone. I will take you shopping!"
The Old Man
It was Halloween night I came back from trick or treating because my mom said to go home because my brothers and sisters were getting mad at me because I kept....Stealing the best candy. She also gave the you are too old for halloween anyway excuse. I know right. Stupid. When I got home I was about to take off this years halloween costume ( superhero if you really want to know ). But then a knock at our door begged me to go and see who it was. I opened the door to find an old man hungry and in need of some food. So I invited him in and made him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a side of oranges. He thanked me and asked if he could do anything in return.
I looked down at my superhero outfit I still hadn't taken off and had one of those daydreams that would be completely and utterly impossible in real life. "Not unless you can do the impossible". I said. "It depends on what you think is impossible." The man said. Then he snapped his fingers and with a flash of blue light he disappeared and then reappeared with a flash of red light. I couldn't believe my eyes. Either I was hallucinating or I had A SORCERER IN MY HOUSE! I was filled with excitement as I asked. Can you give me the ability to fly? "It depends on how much peanut butter you have in your pantry". The old man said said. So I went into the kitchen and made another peanut butter and jelly sandwich. When I gave him the next sandwich he snapped his fingers and with a flash of purple light he was gone and I was FLYING IN THE AIR!!!
So I went outside and shot up like a speeding bullet doing all sorts of tricks. Then when I saw my family. I decided I wanted to scare my younger brother. Because he stole some of my Pokemon cards earlier this week. So I flew home doing more tricks on the way and I grabbed a sheet off my brothers bed. Then I put it on hid behind a corner and when my brother came around the corner. BOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I scared him so bad he literally jumped out of his costume. Then I flew off before my dad or mom could see me. I spent the rest of the night using the bed sheet as a candy bag. And get this the people who gave me candy thought the ability to fly was part of my costume and gave me extra candy! About a half hour in I had the whole bed sheet full of candy.
Then I just spent the last segment of the evening flying across the night sky like a human shooting star. When I could hardly sleep that night floating out of my bed every five seconds because of all the excitement rushing through my body all night while I was thinking what any of you would think if you had superpowers. I can't wait to show my friends. Then I thought about testing my super powers so I jumped off my bed. I can't explain what happened next. I face planted into my dirty laundry basket and almost died from the smell. When I lifted my head out of the the basket I spotted the old man from last night. So I jumped out of the window into the swimming pool below and climbed out of the bitterly cold water as fast as I could regretting the choice I made. I sprinted up to the man I saw out my window and he had similar clothing and was about the same age. But was not the person I was looking for. Then I heard a whistle and it was the man from last night so I ran up to him.So I asked him about why I face planted in my laundry basket instead of flying. You won't believe his answer. "You didn't give me enough peanut butter sandwiches." He said and walked off.
But I guess I gave him enough to be able to fly every halloween. You have no idea how many times I have face planted into my laundry basket in order to figure that out. Lets just say my greatest fear of all my fears in the smell of dirty laundry. But I guess it was a good trade because ever since then I spend my nights flying across the night sky on halloween night.

Halloween Night
By: Camille Van Gils
I was stuck at home all by myself. It was Halloween night, but my mom said I was too old for trick or treating so I had a plan. All of my younger siblings were out trick or treating with my mom and my dad had to work late. I was all alone except for my dog of course. If I couldn't go trick or treating I would sneak out and go with my friends in their neighborhood so my mom wouldn't see me. It was perfect! I called my mom and dad to see when they would be home and they both said really late so I had nothing to worry about. I went upstairs into my room and slipped on my costume (I was being a witch) and called my friends to come pick me up. 15 minutes later my friend Ashley was at my door. I put my dog in her kennel and headed out the door.
Ashley's older brother was driving and he got us to where the rest of our friends were and we started going house to house. We were getting SO MUCH candy, it was awesome!!!! This was by far the best Halloween ever! I was so happy that I snuck out! It was getting super dark and lots of people were going home but not us! We went to this one street that none of us had ever been to before. It was really spooky! I'm not going to lie I was kinda of scared. It looked like no one else was scared so I put on my brave face and kept on going. That's when we heard a scratchy noise.
We all turned around immediately but nothing was there so we kept going to the first house. But we kept hearing it!! It wouldn't stop! I was getting freaked out. Then all of sudden a zombie jumped in front of us and we all screamed! It was so scary. It started to chased us down the street until it took off it's mask and it was my dad!!! I couldn't believe it! My dad said he got off work early and got home and I wasn't there so he drove around the neighborhood and found us walking so he knew it was a perfect opportunity to scare us! Not only that I was in BIG trouble for leaving the house! Maybe next time i'll just stay home.

:D Darkness Clowns by Michael Stratton
Darkness Clowns
Midnight, a nightmare, a darkness of hour. You call out help, but you couldn't, as if the darkness took the voice from you. Can't see anything, but pure darkness all around. The darkness causes you to cry for help, but still, no answer, but footsteps getting louder and louder until it stopped. You couldn't move. You were frozen in place. Then that moment you turned around, their was nothing there. When you look back in front of you, their was Pennywise. You screamed of fear.
He stared at you for hours. Cold fingers went across your forehead. You felt cold inside and out. You felt the emptiness inside you. Feeling blank. You slowly went to sleep. When you woke up, ghosts were all around you, protecting you from Pennywise. Then a blur came across you. You soon realized that it was morning, on my bed, under the covers. I got up as if I have slept for a hundred years straight, not moving. Just sitting there as if I was a rock. When I looked at the room, it wasn't my room. It was an empty room. I felt better inside. I opened my door and there was my mom.
My mother asked if I did my homework. I said, "What homework", You had a project to do said my mother. My teacher said that I had no homework over the weekend. That was last week, my mother said strictly. I went to the table and saw that my brother was gone! Same with my sister. My mother walked in. She asked if I wanted a lollipop. I'm allergic to lollipops I said. That was the moment that I realized that she wasn't my mother. I slowly backed away.
Hoping that she wouldn't have noticed. She did. I ran as fast as my little legs could go. When I looked behind myself, she wasn't my mother. I say a clown with eyes of bloodthirsty hunger. She chased me into a corner. I thought it was the end for me until I remembered that I stole some silver from the school's lab. I took it to try to sell it on Amazon, turned out that I forgot to do it when I got home. I took the shinny silver and chucked it inside the clown's head, it disappeared in a instant. I was back home. Like nothing ever happened.
Tap. Tap. Tap. The sound was coming from the closet. Quietly, I crept toward the door. I opened the door slowly. The taping was getting louder then I swung the door open nothing was there. Then I herd the noise coming from the hall. My heart started racing. Whoever or whatever it is it’s getting closer like really close. I started backing up toward the closet thinking I would be safe in there. Then I heard breathing right behind me. I wiped my head around to see nothing. I was walking back to my bed that’s when I saw something in the mirror. I started walking backwards to peak in the mirror. That’s when I saw the clown from the mall but it was all bloody. I screamed as I whipped my head around. The clown was gone. I ran to my phone to call my best friend Danielle but the the clown had read my mind and got there before me. I was about to scream out loud so somebody could here me, but a bloody ripped up hand had cupped over my mouth. That is how it ended for me and now I remember why he was after me.
It all happened, on October 5th, 1989. It was a Tuesday, I was working at Nine West, with my friend Danielle we were closing the shop when our boss said he would close the rest and get off work early. He said we should stop by the mall and look at the new store called Lucky’s. But, there was something weird about it when he said it. He had this evil smirk when he said it. Me and Danielle got out of there as fast as we could. We stopped by the mall just to check out that new store, and to see what was in it. We were looking around the mall for a map to see where this new Luckey’s place is. We were turning the corner when we saw a big clown head above a sign that said Luckey’s. This place looks pretty sketchy. Me and Danielle looked at each other and then looked at the store. I think she thought it was sketchy too. We started walking toward it and then a clown walked out. Danielle and I started walking away because we both dislike clowns. As we walked away the clown started walking toward us. We started walking faster and faster and when we looked back to see if he was following us but he was gone. We looked back forward and there he was. I got so scarred that I smacked him in the face then a shiny thing fell on the floor I grabbed it and ran. That is why he was after me. The shine thing was a looker that was a portal to the clown world, and it was the power he used to turn people into clowns. This is why he was after me.

"There," said my Dad, as he handed me our jack-o-lantern. "Just set it on the porch."
We had just spent an entire Saturday evening on this one pumpkin. Since my dad and I spent hours making the perfect jack-o-lantern, we added other stuff to it instead of being a cheesy cartoon face. We could pressurize the inside to blow off the lid, and we put it on a lazy Susan to spin it around so it would look like it moves. Instead of just carving out a face on it, we sculpted it to look like an actual head! So, as I crept to the porch, I herd a quaint, soft, menacing laughter come from something inside. When I waked in, all the lights had been turned off and instead of the clock reading 11:30, it read 1:29. Probably just a couple hours ahead I thought. So I went to bed without thinking much of it. Before I drifted off into a realm of fantasy and utter control for hours on end, I kept thinking to myself, what if time really did shift? Was it just my dad playing a spoopy trick? It could just be my mind going into a weird phase of tiredness and exhaustion? I'll figure it out in the morning. I thought, being the regular, lazy, procrastinator I am.
I really wanted to figure this out, but was too tired and ready for sleep. Would it really be that hard to figure this out? Everyone seems to be asleep, maybe I can do it in around 5 minutes. just to make sure I walked all over the house and saw nobody, not even my dog who seems to never sleep. All I did was put a pumpkin outside. have they been planning this for a ling time? or was it an immediate thought? What if its all supernatural and it's not a joke? So many questions rushed through my mind. Many were IT themed because I recently watched the reboot since the first one in 1990. Right as I thought of the plot of IT, I thought i saw a clown out of the corner of my eye. It looked EXACTLY like Pennywise, out of what i could see. After I turned the corner, I saw a red balloon floating perfectly in the hallway. It was directly in the middle of the hallway, not touching any walls the ceiling, or the floor. I immediately thought maybe it some sort of demon or ghost who makes whatever i think into a reality. I start thinking of Scrooge McDuck and how rich he is. after I open my eyes, the balloon was gone! I looked down, and saw a $1 bill. I pick it up, and right as I touch it, it burst into flames. Dang. i think in my head. Maybe this ghost demon makes everything into a scary or miserable. If this was a practical joke, it would've taken some INTENSE wizardry to make the balloon appear, the bill to burst into flames, and the coin to disappear. I feel a gentle, but firm grip on my shoulder, and see an extremely old and decrepit with an arm as tall as me. I jump back in fear. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!
I'm screaming in my head now. I realize I have to get out of here.
I start sprintinig as fast as I can. next thing I know, my head is throbbing in pain. My mind is racing with emotion and thoughts, I forget them as fast as I hear them. I jump to my feet as fast as I can and finallyhear myself screaming in both pain and fear. my mind is so foggy. A shiver goes down my spine as I hear something be knocked over from the kitchen. I jst about crash through the door and trip on the pumpkin my sister made. I suddenly realize that the pumkin is gone! All those work hours, just to have it stolen. Maybe thats whats making this happen! I then remembered I was on the floor under what felt like a blanket. it felt warm and fuzzy, so I passed out and hoped nothing would kill me. When I wake up, I find myself in a bright room and I say "What happened?" hoping for a good response.
A dark voice from the shadows says "Something the average boy doesn't experience in his life." I started to think who this person - if a person at all - is. "Who are you?" I ask in a groggy, tired voice. Then silence. I hear a loud muffled crack behind the door almost like a gunshot. "Where am I?" I then focus on the roof. Then I realize exactly where I am.

Halloween Fright
By Scarlett Deuel
Ugh. I think I've eaten too much Halloween candy... I got more this year than I have any other year. That´s because my sister and I were finally allowed to go outside of our neighborhood. Our mother is very protective, and our father isn't home very often. He works a demanding job, but it makes good money. I shudder as I realize the window flew open somehow. I lean across my bed to shut it, but my hands slip as I try to grip the window handles and I hit my head on corner of the window frame. I hit my head with such force that my glasses fly off of my face and they land somewhere. I instinctively jump off my bed and lie out on the floor. I wave my arms around blindly on the floor trying to find them. You would think that I wold just wear contacts, saying that I can´t see without them, but contacts are a pain to put in and they irritate my eyes.
I just realized I haven introduced myself yet. My name is Jeffrey Contell. And what happened tonight is something I´ll never forget. It all started when My sister, Rena, and I went down Kurs Street. There´s a ton of houses of that street, so we decided that was the best way to go. It was getting late, so at the time, it was probably about 9:00. Rena and I knocked on the first door. we waited a minute, and suddenly the door opened. Rena and I are pulled inside with one mighty tug. We landed on the floor and the boards started to creak. Green ooze leaked out of the walls and a sickening stench filled the air. Rena stood up right into a cobweb and started shaking to get it off of her. I stood up shortly after her, but was so short that the cobweb didn't reach me. Being short has its advantages.
A man stepped out of the shadows. The man was eerily tall , pale, and thin. He looked like someone strait out of a horror movie. I got that vibe because of the fact the he had blood all over his face and clothes. He stepped closer to us, and Rena started to run. He grabbed her by the back of the shirt as I stood still as a statue. She hung as if she were dead from his hands, her wavy, brown hair draping her face like curtains. She opened her eyes slightly, and her bright grey eyes looked horrified. The man dropped her, and she didn't move once she was on the floor. The man turned to me, slowly, and I stood my ground. Then, before he could reach me, I yelled as loud as I could. He sprinted over and clapped a hand over my face, but it was too late. The people next door rushed in and he was forced to let go of me. Rena stood up and we ran as fast as we could all the way back to our house. When we got inside, we both ran upstairs to our rooms. I haven't heard from her since then. And now, here I am. I feel so sick to my stomach, it's like I was just on a roller coaster. I lay down and hope that my stomach pain will pass, and slowly drift off to sleep.
Halloween Night
By: Jocelyn Olson
I was stuck at home all by myself. It was Halloween Night, but mom had said I was too old for trick-or treating. Part of me agreed with her, but the other part wanted to put on my costume, and go knock on the neighbors' doors anyway. My mom told me she would be back in 45 minutes because she had to run a few errands. In the meantime, I decided to turn all of the lights off so trick-or-treaters would think I wasn’t home. The plan was great! Everyone stopped coming, but that was when I started hearing soft thumps. I wasn't scared at all at first. I assumed it was my cat, Fluffbutt who was always falling off of my bed. But the sounds continued and seemed to be getting louder. Someone was probably pulling a prank on me to make me look like a wuss. I wasn't going to let that happen, so I tip toed over to my room to inspect, and all I found was my cat sleeping on my bed. Wierd! I thought she was the one making the sounds in the first place!
Something was going on that I didn’t know about. I was starting to get a little worried when I realized that it had been over an hour since my mom had left to run errands. What was going on and why was she taking so long? There was one final THUMP before the sound stopped completely. I continued my inspection and when I crept into the kitchen to see if there was anything in there making the noise (but mostly to get a snack), lots of people in Halloween costumes popped out of the shadows and yelled "BOO!". I was so startled that I yelped and scrambled back. That was followed by a lot of laughing. I realized that I knew these people, they were all people from my school. I immediately saw my best friends Rachel and Jenny dressed in their Halloween costumes. That’s when I realized what was happening. There were red, orange, black and purple streamers hanging from the ceiling, bowls of candy were covering the counter, and Halloween music was playing softly in the background. They were having a party! But, why at my house? My friend Jenny helped me off of the floor. “Surprise! We knew that Halloween was one of your favorite holidays, and that you weren’t allowed to go trick-or-treating this year so we decided to throw a party for you! Your mom helped us set it up!” She beamed. “Really?” I couldn’t believe it. “No. This is probably just a big prank.” I told her. “No!” Rachel jumped in, “You know we’re not the type to pull pranks on our best friend! And, why else would there be so many people be here if it was a prank?” she asked. “Plus, why else would everyone be in your house?” Jenny asked. They made a good point. But, could this many people really have thrown a party just for me? I didn’t know this many people cared about me, but I decided to believe them anyway.
They told me to go get my costume on, so I hurried up to my room and got my costume out of my closet (I had stashed it there since I figured I would never need it again) and slipped it on. I was going to be a hippie this year. I had all of the things ready to go. That was why I was so upset when my parents told me I wasn’t allowed to go trick-or-treating this year. When I joined everyone downstairs again, they had the Halloween music blasting as loud as it would go, and were singing along. It made me happy to see everyone enjoying themselves. Maybe this wouldn’t be such a bad Halloween after all.

The black cat twitched its tail twice, then it hissed, then it jumped off the log it was sitting on. There had been more and more black cats in the city than normal. They kept appearing on sidewalks, in allies, on roofs, and I even found one in my backyard! This wasn't normal and it seemed like I was the only one that noticed, I once saw one jump out of a mom's baby carriage and she didn't even blink. I tried to talk to my parents about it but they just stared off into space, they looked like they were under a trance. It has been three weeks since I've spoken to anyone about it, actually, anyone at all. Everybody in Walter Kings has been walking the same way that my parents act, trance-like. To be honest here, it is starting to sketch me out.
One day as I was walking, I saw this girl that was not walking like her brain had been scrubbed clean of all memories and emotion. Her expression showed fear and confusion like she'd fallen asleep in Australia and woken up here. Our gazes connected and you could see the relief flood into her as she realized that she wasn't the only normal human being here. She started coming my direction. Something inside me stirred and I realized how lonely I'd been without anybody to talk to. "What the heck is going on?" She asked, now that she was up close, I could see that she had high cheekbones, sparkling blue, eyes and full lips that made her quite attractive. 'Uhhhh" I couldn't think of something to say. girls always did that to me, especially cute ones. "Well, I'm Waiting." She snapped me back into reality and I saw her tapping her foot with her arms crossed. Obviously she wasn't the most patient person in the world. "I have no idea, but I think that they have been brain washed or something." I replied back nervously. She thought for a moment. The black cats meowing were the only sound around as we stood there wishing so hard. It felt only fair for the answer to pop right out of the air and show us the way to get rid of this problem, if there was one...
Suddenly, all the people on the street, sidewalk, and grass stopped. Every single one of them picked up a cat and started to surround us. Just as they were closing in, the girl started to laugh, and laugh, and laugh. You'd think it was a nervous laugh, no, it was a menacing, horrible, and evil laugh. She turned towards me and she has the face of a cat! She was still laughing until I punched her in her frightening kitty face and broke her pink little nose. She dropped like a rag doll and all the black cats disappeared. And I'm not talking about the running away kind of disappeared, no I mean POOF! They vanished from their human slaves arm's. The people looked around curiously, seriously, THEY HAD CURIOUS LOOKS ON THEIR FACE! It turns out that the mystery girl was actually an evil cat witch, and was controlling our whole town with the eyes of her black cat minions who turned out to be lost souls. My punch hadn't just broken her nose, the force I created was enough to cause amnesia! She forgot she was an evil cat witch and moved away to find her family. Everybody in Walter Kings didn't remember a thing. All they remember is looking into one of the cats eyes and waking up in the park around me with an unconscious broken nosed girl on the ground. And every body lived happily with no more interruptions... "MEOW"

The "Short-cut"
My brother and I were walking through the woods one Halloween day when we saw what appeared to be a short-cut. " Let's go that way," my brother said. Ehh might as well. We started to walk and it started getting darker and it was like 2:00 pm in the afternoon. The bare, leafless trees were starting to seem alive and it was truly sketchy. I told my brother we should go back and he said no, and there is no way I am walking back there alone. So I trotted on. As we walked on it got darker and my brother looked more scared then me. It almost seemed that it was midnight in the middle of the day. Out of nowhere, clowns came out from behind the trees. We ran the opposite way for it seemed like an hour when we finally lost them, but we still had no idea where we were.
When we finally got out of the woods I checked to see what time it was and where we were on my phone, when I realized what time it was and where we were I almost passed out. We were in Portland, Oregon and it was 1:00 pm. First off, we went into the woods in St. George at first, so how did we end up here. Secondly, how is it 1:00 when it is passed 2:00 in St. George. When I was just about to hallucinate, I woke up to my alarm.

The Ghost
Tap. Tap. Tap. The sound came from inside the closet. Quietly I crept toward the door and positioned myself with my knees bent and my arms ready to rip the door out if necessary. I looked around for a reachable weapon, but unfortunately the closest one (not really qualified for a weapon) was a half eaton apple leftover from yesterday. I stood ready at the door and silently counted to three in my head then mercilessly and pulled the the door open so hard that if doors were alive, this one would probably be dead or majorly injured. Speaking of doors being alive, I could not believe my eyes when I saw what looked like to be a physician in his early thirties wearing bright green scrubs, holding a stethoscope against the door as if checking if it was still alive. Oddly enough, I slowly lowered down my partially eaten apple because I trusted the blond haired blue eyed man somewhat. I don't know why I kind of trusted him, maybe because I trust doctors, maybe because it wasn't creepy at all that he was in my closet, or maybe it was because I was holding an apple, but either way I just don't know what it was.
Anyways, The doctor's gaze seemed to notice me as if I didn't matter at all, and he said politely with a big smile " sorry if I have disturbed you, I am just checking if this door is healthy and alive!" I gave him a suspicious look and then he elaborated by saying with only one side of his mouth moving as if he didn't want to let anyone hear "I have been led to believe that there is a common object possessive ghost lurking in this house, I was just checking if he happened to be possessing this door at the time". "well" I said in a slow undesicive tone, "just wait here while I go get my brother". "ok!" the physician said in a cheerfull and happy mood.
As I entered my 18 year-old brother's room I heard meowing coming from the corner. I turned my head in that direction and watched horrifically as the spinny chair that my brother owned spun around to reveal a navy blue shirt with white stripes hovering in midair just above the seat cushion. The long sleeved shirt was holding an ugly bald cat in it's right arm, and with the other arm, it was petting the hairless cat in long slow strokes. Out of nowhere, a low gravely voice said "I've been expecting you".

Don't Drink

"What is that AWFUL smell?" I asked. Then, I saw the cauldron full of bubbling purple liquid on our kitchen counter-top, and purple splatters from what seemed to be previous attempts covered the walls and floors. You see, my mother is a witch. Not the kind with ratty black hair and slime-y green skin, but the kind that simply just makes potions. She actually had lovely, silky ginger hair and soft green eyes. Anyways, back to the goop. It was PUTRID. Similar to if a skunk sprayed some old eggs in a sewer. Gagging, I plugged my nose and made myself breathe through my mouth.
I then noticed a quickly-written note scribbled on lined paper laying on the floor near my feet. I picked it up and read the sloppy, rushed handwriting:
"'Hey sweetie!I have to deliver and sell SEVERAL batches of this stinky-stink potion after I get back from the grocery store, just make sure you don't spill! One more thing. Don't. Drink. It.
Love you, bye!"
I looked at the letter, then the potion, then the letter again. After reading those last three words, I did what any other edgy, disobedient preteen would do. I REALLY wanted to drink it! What would happen if I did? Would I grow? Shrink? Die? Become immortal?!
I heard the garage rumble as I set the letter down, lifted my hand from my nose, (Which was a mistake, I plugged it again.) I stuck my usable finger into the purple slosh and wiped it on my tongue. But just as I swallowed, I heard the clanking of my mother's high heel boots on the hard tile floors. I fell to the floor, writhing in pain. Then it stopped. I stood up to see my mom looking me dead in the eye. "Congratulations, you disobeyed me. And now you stink." I lifted my arm up to my nostrils and took a deep breathe. "EWW-"
The End
I was stuck at home all by myself. It was Halloween night, but Mom had said that I was too old for trick-or-treating, but I was only thirteen! I had nothing to do but simply watch a movie til that little monster Brianna (my little sister) comes home from trick or treating. It was so unfair, I was the only one that didn't get invited to Tessa's Halloween party, and now my mom wasn't even letting me go trick or treating! Not to mention that I had already gotten a new costume. I was going to go as a.. Suddenly a scratch on the door interrupted my thoughts. "Who on earth could that be at nine 'o clock at night?" I thought.
The thing scratched again. I had no choice but to open the door. I knew it was a bad idea, but I never knew that it would lead into the next events. The door creaked open and a saw a little black cat by my door. It was so cute, I knew that letting a black cat cross your path was bad luck, but I couldn't resist its cute little nose and whiskers. I reached down to pet it and it let out a little purr as I stroked its silky black fur. I then closed the door and walked back to my T.V. when I heard a loud "MEOW." I looked out the window and there was the same black cat peering back at me but with glowing yellow eyes. Not the gentle eyes I had seen before. I blinked and the cat was gone. "Where did it go?" I thought aloud. I shrugged and then went back to my movie.
When my movie was finished I had no choice but to read a book. I reached for my book to find it torn and broken. "Oh no!" I thought "This is a library book! My mom is going to kill me!" Speaking of my mom, where was she, and where was Brianna! My mom said that they were going to be home at nine. My stomach grumbled, and I realized that I was starving! I went to the fridge and grabbed some milk and cookies. Only to find that the milk was spoiled. I heard a small scratch at my window that made my ears curl. I turned to find the black cat again, but the cat now had angry yellow eyes, strangely hair, and fangs! It hissed at me and ran away.
I woke up in cold sweat, I looked at the clock. Nine O'clock it seemed to sing back to me. I then realized that all of this was a dream. ~The End~

Interesting Halloween
I was stuck at home all by myself. It was Halloween night, but mom had said that I was to old for trick-or-treating! I was so mad! I had the perfect costume picked out, and the perfect route from which house I was going to start at, to the house I was going to end at. This was going to be the best Halloween ever, and then mom had to go and ruin it. She and my dad were out trick-or-treating with my little sister. I figured I would just watch a not-too-scary Halloween movie. Just then an idea popped into my head, what if I invited my friend to have a late night with lots of candy and a movie! I decided to call her. I picked up the phone and dialed her number, ring....ring....ring...."hello" the voice said very deeply. I thought it was just Julia trying to prank me, so I said, "ha ha, so funny Julia, I was wondering if you wanted to come have a late night at my house?" Than she answered in a sort of Darth Vader-like voice, "I am coming right now".
Okay, that was kind of weird, I thought. So I just waited, I waited for like forty five minutes, and she still wasn't there! I thought maybe she decided not to come after all. Just then I saw a shadow lurking in the back window. How did anyone get back there? There is a combination on the gate that only my family knows, and the fence is too high to climb. I was starting to think that the voice I heard on the phone wasn't Julia trying to prank me. Than I heard a squeak, the creepy figure was trying to open the back door! Good thing it was locked, but was the front door? No time to question, I ran to the front door and locked it, and the garage door. I also made sure all the windows were shut and locked. Now what was I going to do? I decided I should maybe check if the shadow was still there. I slowly and quietly crept to the window and peeked out, the figure was gone! I was so freaked out! Then I remembered something, I could call my mom! I am so dumb, how did I not think of that before? I ran to the kitchen and grabbed the phone, it was ringing, and then I heard the ringtone in the background. I ran into my mom's room and sitting there was her phone, and my dad's phone! Now how would I get a hold of them?
I was almost crying now! Where was the figure, and what did it want from me? Just then I heard a knock on the door. It might be my mom and dad, but it also could be the figure! Should I answer it? I slowly walked to the door, and slowly pulled it opened.....eeeeeeek! Standing there was a creepy masked man holding a knife! I was so dead! All of the sudden the man pulled of his mask, and there was Julia, laughing so hard! I was so mad, more mad than I had ever been in my life, more mad than when my mom said I couldn't go trick-or-treating! "I'm going to get you back when your least expecting it!" I said. "But how did you get into the backyard?" I asked. " Remember that time you told me, because you were on a trip, and I left my soccer ball back there?" said Julia. "Oh yeah," I said. This has definitely been the most interesting Halloween ever!

Everybody said the old Bosworth mansion was haunted, so I decided to check it out for myself. On the night of Halloween, I took my best friends, Benson and Jones, and we went down 24 Lincoln Lane into what kids at our school called the "Cast Off". Rumor has it that James Bosworth, the dude who used to live in the Bosworth mansion, along with everyone else on 24 Lincoln street mysteriously disappeared. Rumor also has it that James Bosworth was behind those mysterious disappearances. Benson's cousin's buddy Wilson told Benson that the night that they all disappeared was Mr. Bosworth's 46th wedding anniversary with his wife, who had passed away the previous year. He also said that one of Mr. Bosworth's neighbors was the doctor who couldn't save his wife. That was Bosworth's motive.
As we walked up the narrow, creaky steps up to the mansion, a light turned on inside the house, which was thought to be abandoned. My heart skipped a beat. I looked over at Jones and Benson. Jones had a look of pure terror on his face, which was exactly what I felt. I hoped I didn't have that look on my face. "Finn, we should go." Benson said, looking at me. "We just got here!" I whispered, determined to find out what was going on inside. Benson gulped and nodded, and pushing Jones up in front of him, we continued up the steps toward the apparently not abandoned house.
I opened the giant oak door and felt a rush of warm air. Laughter and music filled the house, just like it would on Christmas day. We stepped into a grand entrance that lead into the great hall. I could hear children running around and adults engaged in a lively conversation about who knows what. Benson, Jones, and I shrugged at each other. As we journeyed father into the house, the noise grew louder and louder. When we eventually reached the source of chatter, all three of us stopped dead in our tracks.
We had walked into an entire dining room of ghosts! Little ghost children running around and playing tag together, teen ghosts sitting around the fire playing games and reading books, adult ghosts sitting around the table eating salad, drinking milk and finishing up their last bites of pie! There were even old ghosts sitting around a television knitting and talking loudly. Everything was exactly how it should be at an amazing feast except that everything was a silvery white shining material! Jones looked like he was going to puke. "How?" He managed to say in a whisper. Benson looked like he had seen a ghost. Oh wait! He had! We all had, and there were about fifty of them, sitting in the dining hall, living room and kitchen acting as if nothing abnormal was going on, just having a party as if they were all still alive and human.
I was the first one to finally move again, and considering that none of them seemed to notice us, I walked around observing the party of ghosts. Jones and Benson followed, not too far behind me. As I was walking around, I noticed a few newspaper clippings sitting on the kitchen counter. Seeing that they were solid, I picked one up and started reading it. The date on the top was November 13, 1923. The headline was "24 Lincoln Street Residents Disappearance! True Story Uncovered!". I elbowed Jones and Jones elbowed Benson. "Look!" I said, pointing at the headline. This was just what we were looking for! I read the paper out loud, "Extravagant party provided by Mr. James Bosworth was a horrible failure. Bosworth's maid, Saralily Pentol, was cooking her famous dessert pastries when something in the kitchen went horribly wrong. Her oven mitt caught fire and the fire slowly spread throughout the whole first floor. Unfortunately, no one noticed the fire until it was too late. Only one person attending the party survived the horrible accident. This individual was Matilda (Tilly) Hopple, age 23. She has provided us information and has been of great service to us. Please pray for all of the family members of the many who lost their lives. Thank you."
This was exactly what we came here to find! As I finished reading the article, I felt a tap tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see a ghost man of about 30 holding out a tray full of cookies out to me. I almost yelled in surprise! The man was dressed as a waiter and had a long mustache. "Would you like one?" He asked in a kind, low voice. I took a cookie with a trembling hand and he offered one to Jones and Benson as well. Benson took one but Jones shook his head. "I'm not hungry." He said. Which is strange because Jones is always hungry. I grabbed the newspaper and shoved it into my pocket. So the ghosts could see us! A grin spread across my face. "As long as we're here, we might as well enjoy ourselves!" I ran up to one of the girls sitting on the ground reading a book and grabbed her hand. As I pulled her onto the dance floor, the band perked up and started playing a jazz song that I had never heard before! Jones and Benson joined me, following my lead and swinging girls onto the dance floor.
I ended up having the night of my life. Jones, Benson and I left with an invitation to come back next year and a bag full of homemade sweets and candy. The funny thing is, we didn't tell anyone about our adventure. They might think that we had gone loony! More importantly though, this was our night and we wanted it to stay that way. It was just easier that way. Now, it's been ten years and I haven't missed a Halloween party at the old Bosworth mansion.

My brother and I were walking through the woods one Halloween day when we saw what appeared to be a short-cut. "Let's go that way," my brother said. I was a skeptic but I trusted my brother so I followed him through the trees that were heavy and thick with leaves.
As we got farther along the trail I knew something was off, but if we turned around and went the other way it would just take longer, so I just sucked it up. We were now in a fully secluded place so no one would see anything unless they followed the path exactly, there was a lake with a beautiful waterfall, a very big cathedral with beautiful designs covered in gold and an intricate wall full of all diamonds, jewels, and gems you can imagine. OK, now this is where it started to get crazy, there were what seemed to be fairies, little gnomes, unicorns, trolls, a few witches, and wizards. This was only some of the bizarre things in this place, I honestly felt like I had just walked into a Fablehaven book!
I didn't think I just grabbed my brothers hand and booked it! We didn't make it very far before a meaty hand yanked me back. I screamed and tried to run but he held fast, I looked over and my brother was in the trolls other meaty hand. A little gnome dressed in a light green shirt and purple striped pants with a cute chubby little face and ruddy cheeks stocked over to us. "Thanks JJ" the chubby face gnome said to the troll. "Hello, children! My name is Greg and I own this sanctuary, creatures come and go as often as they please. Would you like to come into my hotel? Have a drink? I can answer all of your questions." the chubby faced gnome said. " W-w-we h-have t-t-t-to go?" I stammered as my brother said, "We'd love too!!" My brother won and we followed them into the hotel. I closed my eyes till we sat down, I was so overwhelmed, everything I knew was a lie, mythical creatures were real! I was being over dramatic, they were all actually very nice. Nothing like in most of the stories!
Greg explained that very few humans knew about mythical creatures and we HAD to keep this a secret. He said only creatures with magic in their blood could see the pathway to this sanctuary. So we some how have magic in our blood. Once I heard that I passed out and Greg continued to talk to my brother. It was getting dark by the time I woke up, and my brother was getting ready to leave. "Come back next week and we will show you around and maybe figure out the kind of magic you have in you." Greg said "See you then. It was so nice to meet you!" my brother said. And then we finally walked home.

I took off my Halloween costume, washed the paint off my face, put on my pajamas, brushed my teeth, and went to bed. I was almost asleep when I first heard the sound of tapping on the front door." Ugh, probably trick or treaters." I said to myself. I decided to just let them go away. Not even ten seconds later did I hear it again. This time louder. I went down stairs to tell them to leave but when I opened the door no one was there." What the..." I said to myself . As I was closing the door I heard a tapping sound upstairs. I ran upstairs to see who it was cause I was home alone. When I got up there no one was there. "This is creepy" I whispered. Suddenly the phone started ringing. I ran back downstairs to answer it. " Hello" I said. But all I could here was whispering.
This was getting really creepy. I decided to run to my friends house but when I went to open the door it was locked. The creepiest part is there is no lock on that door. I somehow could not open the door."Oh no" I said. I ran to the back door but something blocked my way. I looked up and saw a shadow looming over me. "Time to die!" it yelled at me. It held up a knife and started to swing it down when everything went black.
I woke up to silence "Whew." I said to myself. It was all just a dream. I got up and walked down stairs to get some cereal. As I was pouring my milk I felt my body get cold like I was lying in snow. I turned around and saw him. The shadow. He's real. "You can't escape me Owen. Not even your family" It held up my mom's skull. It was all bloody. I felt like I couldn't breathe. "Now, your turn." I turned around and ran towards the door. I heard it following close behind. When I got close towards the door I realized it was locked so I ran upstairs to climb out a window. When I got to the window in my room I heard it walking up the stairs. "Silly Owen, you think you can escape me?" "Yes I can" I said back. I jumped out the window onto my roof. I ran and jumped off the roof onto the grass. I did a sick roll and started to run to the police station when it caught up to me. "Any last words?" "Yeah". I thought to myself when I remembered something. "Did you see that sick roll when I jumped off the roof?"

My brother and I were walking through the woods one Halloween day when we saw what appeared to be a short-cut. "Let's go that way," my brother said. I wasn't so sure about it but his mind was made up. "Um, can we not go that way?" I was pleading with him but like I said, his mind was made up. As we walked through the woods we heard really creepy sounds. "Ok," he said "Maybe this was a bad idea."
We heard a cracking noise behind us. " Um, maybe we should go back" he told me. I totally agreed but by the time I had turned around to start heading back he was gone. I yelled and yelled for him but I didn't hear him answer. I decided to walk back to the entrance of the woods and just go around them. Suddenly something grabbed my leg. I didn't even look at what it was, I just ran for my life! Or so I thought.
As I was running I wondered why I followed my brother into the woods. I mean, it's not like I ever do anything he wants me to, so why was that the one thing I did? Well, as I was running for my life I had a lot of time to reflect on why I followed him. I figured out that it's just because he's older and "wiser". When I got out of the woods I found my brother. It turns out that he just decided to prank me. He had a good laugh after that one.

Everybody said the old Bosworth mansion was haunted, so nobody ever walked near it. Ivy had grown all over the windows and up the walls, the gate was crooked, and you could easily spot bats hanging from the trees. The local neighborhood children would not retrieve their ball if they accidentally threw it over because they were afraid of the voices they heard after it got dark. However, this sounded like a great adventure for me, my brother, and his friends. I still do not know how I got dragged along.
Since we were going into an old creepy house we decided to bring flashlights. As we were leaving the house we told my dad what we were doing and where we were going. On the long walk to the old Bosworth's mansion, my brother and his friends were making jokes about how I was going to cry, wet my pants, or run away. I cannot say that didn't happen.
Once we reached the house we tried turning on the flashlights, but they wouldn't turn on. This made everything much creepier, but we still entered. The house was very dark and everyone started to get scared. Then we heard footsteps coming from upstairs, and everyone scattered. I ran and hid behind an old dusty drore. Soon everyone realized that the man upstairs wasn't coming. So we regrouped and set out to explore the rest of the mansion. Then we heard more footsteps, only this time louder, and faster, coming closer and closer. We all scattered and hid again, but this time as we regrouped two of my brother's friends were gone--only three of us remained. So we decided to spread out and look for them.
I decided to look up stairs while everyone else split up and looked down stairs. Soon after that, I heard someone scream. I knew that someone else had disappeared--two left, I thought to myself. Then I heard footsteps so I ran and hid I saw the last to of my brothers friends run past followed by a man. The man caught them and then bound them up. I then realized that all the friends were captured and only me and my brother were left. I ran out from hiding place, ran down stairs, found my brother and told him what I had seen. Then the man came running down the stairs and he spotted us. I knew we were dead.
The man had caught us and I knew we were in trouble, but then he pulled of his mask and I realized that it was my dad. From out of the shadows my brothers friends burst out laughing talking about how scared we were, and then I realized that my brother's friends were in on the prank with my dad. Me and my brother just stood there embarrassed about how we had acted. My dad explained that he had taken the batteries out of the flash lights before we left, and that he and my brothers friends had been planning this for weeks. That was the best halloween ever.

Halloween With the Wolves
My brother and I were walking through the woods one Halloween night when we saw what appeared to be a short-cut. "Let's go that way," my brother said. We looked again to the other side and decided to just take the short-cut anyway. It was really late out and the other path looked darker and scarier than the this one. We started walking and after about ten minutes heard a noise. "Snap!" Someone was in the woods behind us, following us. My brother and I turned around but all we could see was the dark outline of trees. We heard it again, "Snap!" the sound of a twig breaking. I could feel my heart rate start to speed up. My brother shivered in fear and said, "Maybe we should've taken the other way. It probably wouldn't have been so scary." I just shook my head and stated, "Well we're already too far to head back, and besides I don't think you'd want to run into whoever is following us." We kept going and tried to subtly speed up our pace. Next thing we knew, there was a howl not far behind us.
We stopped dead in our tracks. "Is that what I think it is?" My brother said, "I don't know." I answered back, "But I hope not." We continued on but the smell of dog breath was getting closer and closer as we walked. We started halfway jogging, we didn't want to attract too much attention to whoever it was that was following us so we didn't go into a full sprint. We hadn't heard them in a while because the sound of the wolf had scared us to the point that we'd completely forgotten about the man. Suddenly, I heard a running noise behind us. I looked behind my shoulder and saw two piercing green eyes bouncing up and down, and the sound of panting close behind us. The wolf was on our trail. I was scared out of my mind but I didn't want to be eaten by the wolf so I yelled to my brother, "RUN!" He looked back and started to sprint, his eyes full of shock and fear probably matching mine. We both started to cry, tears streaming down our face. "Mommy, daddy!" My brother was whispering as we ran. I looked behind us again and saw that the wolf was joined by two other ones. All of them had bright green eyes that you could see through the darkness. While I was looking over my shoulder, I tripped over a stone and fell. My brother looked back and yelled at me to get up. I looked back and was almost frightened out of my socks, the wolves were almost onto me! I was petrified from fear. "What am I going to do?" I thought to myself. Just then, a man came running from the side of the woods. He looked a bit familiar but since it was dark I couldn't see him clearly.
The man came out with a small log and yelled at the wolves. This gave me time to get up and run after my brother, scared out of my wits but grateful of the distraction the man provided. "We have to find a way home," I said to my brother, "Or we'll never make it out alive." The man started to back up slowly, still yelling at the wolves. It was just then that I figured out that he was the one that had been following us, but who was he and why did he look so familiar? The light-bulb clicked as I realized that it had been our dad, following us to make sure we wouldn't get hurt but also trying not to ruin our fun night. "Well, he did but not on purpose. And he did save me so I have to give him that." I thought as we ran for our lives. We finally made it to the end of the trail and found a sign pointing to our cabin's neighborhood. I steered my brother toward that direction and stopped to take a breath for a little. "You can wait with me for a few minutes if you want, I'm waiting for dad to come." "That man that saved you was daddy?" I had forgotten to tell my brother that the man was dad. He was completely astonished. "Yup, and he is the best dad ever on the worst night ever." We waited for a few minutes when he finally came around the bend, breathing heavily and sweating from running so much without stopping. My brother and I ran into him and gave him a bear hug. "Thank you dad, you scared us earlier when you stepped on the twigs though!" He took a few deep breaths and said, "Well, I didn't know what would happen when I sent my two young boys out alone to trick-or-treat. Though I definitely did not expect this!" I wasn't sure if I would ever feel the same about coming back to the cabin after this, but I sure was glad my dad was there to help us. We walked down the trail to where our mom and baby sister were waiting for us. The rest of the night was nice, and in the morning we packed up our bags to go back home. We were done with the woods for now.

Happy Halloween!
The Sound.....
I took off my Halloween costume, washed the paint off my face, put on my pajamas, brushed my teeth, and went to bed. I was almost asleep when I first heard the sound I thought it was just my sister Kayley coming home from work, but after a while I heard it again...and again....and again! At this point, I knew that I had to go and see what was wrong. So I jumped out of my bed got my game face on and started searching (with my brother's baseball bat just incase something bad happened). As I searched I still kept hearing the sound it sounded like someone saying,"rigger, rigger, rigger" in a crackly voice!! I thought of many reasons why there was this sound...maybe someone was robbing my house, or maybe someone was at the door and REALLY wanted to talk? I had no idea!!! After about fifteen minutes of searching for the sound, I was just about to give up until the sound started to get louder!! I looked everywhere I could, but it still was ABSOLUTELY no where!!
At 11:13 exact, my sister Kayley walked in the front door and asked why I was holding my brother Easton's baseball bat. I told her that there was a scary sound somewhere in the house and I was using the baseball bat for protection. She laughed and suggested that she should help me find the sound. So we looked....and looked...and looked, and the sound still continued to get louder. At about 11:30 it was so loud I could barely hear what Kayley was saying! Funny story, she said, " We should look outside" and I thought she said,"He is cooking a pie!" So I started to run into random places in and out of my house to find some pie to eat! Sadly, there was no pie. Anyways, back to the story, so I finally ended up being able to hear her and we started to look outside. It turns out the sound the whole time was our new neighbor cutting down an old sixty foot tall pine tree!!!!
I WAS SO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had stayed up for about two hours now looking for the sound, and all it was, was our new neighbor cutting down a tree the whole time!!!! I was about to scream!!!!!! Until Easton walked in the door. (He gets mad if I even touch one little thing of his, and here I am right in front of him holding his favorite "LUCKY" baseball bat as he calls it!) He was so mad at me!!! At about 11:50 my parents finally came home and of course... I was grounded for a month...........again!!!!!
